A bit about the author V.C.McDade,
I have spent my life picking holes in plots and guessing, "who done it" shouting at the TV screen, like many of us, "turn on the lights, don't go into the house where the psycho lives and pick up the gun?"
I wanted to create a suspense thriller with longevity, where the reader would identify with the characters, even when they are acting at their most heinous and vulnerable, and set them in a series of events that capture the imagination with twists in the storyline that keep you wondering where it will lead and who will be left.
The Sardinia Prinz trilogy is the foundations of a series, I hope you enjoy the journey.
Being someone that has problems distinguishing colours, especially when they are set in materials such as fur and felt and the fact that I am dyslexic has brought its own challenges to my writing.
Basically the white of the page overtakes the black of the character letters in the written word, I loose the end of letters, end up reading the same paragraph again and again, frustrating!!! and something that was not understood generally when I was at school in the 1960's.
Fortunately using the early computers in the 70’s green screens, I found this helped, also I could type in capitals which helped and then with the advent of MS word etc this significantly assisted me in general day to day writing.
However, It was not until I broke my wrist and had to give up working as builder that I decided to sit down and compile the books I had written into the finished published format.
It has a been a steep learning curve, especially as I have never read a book in my life, I had no point of reference when it came to structure and creating the characters, arranging their interaction within the plot.
This sounds like a bit of a winge, its not meant to be, I just wanted to explain why it has taken so long for me to start writing, I had many other career paths, but always enjoyed the writing itself, way before I considered trying to share my storys. I believe I have a vivid visual perception, I've enjoyed painting for many years. So I see the book/books in their entirety as a film/boxset, and have tried to portray what I see in my imagination into words, for the reader.
I write relatively quickly, in the first instance and then break the chapters up and arrange them into the order I feel works, with the characters and within the timeline.
Research for the first book was essential and very interesting, most has come from the web and from documentarys, also, I was fortunate to aquire a complete set of some ten volumes made up from newspaper articles, from the 1930's to 1945, very inspirational as has been my wife Sharon, a constant reader, who has provided huge support and encouragement along with friends, some of whom read the preliminary drafts and enjoyed my writing, so here we are.
Ultimately the trilogy of The Sardinia Prinz, I see as a foundation for another set of books I have been working on, that takes one of the central characters you discover and projects them into sequence of thrilling adventures that have interesting and varied storylines.
